THE JOB

A recent job in the Ballynahinch area: a new intruder alarm for a home.

The control panel went in on its own fused supply, with a keypad by the door and movement detectors in the rooms that matter. In one area where an ordinary sensor would be more likely to false alarm, we fitted a dual-technology detector, which needs both its infrared and microwave sensors to agree before it triggers.

A Techtrix bell box went on the front of the house, and before handover we load-tested the standby battery, so we know it will keep the alarm running if the power goes off.

Frequently asked questions

Do you install alarms around Ballynahinch?

Yes. We fit and maintain alarms in Ballynahinch and across County Down, including Saintfield, Crossgar, Downpatrick and Carryduff.

What is a dual-technology detector?

A detector with two sensors, infrared and microwave, that both have to see movement before it triggers. We use them in garages, conservatories and other spaces where heat changes or draughts can fool a standard sensor.

Why do you test the battery?

The battery keeps the alarm working in a power cut. A load test shows it can actually deliver, rather than just that it is connected.

Can the alarm be monitored?

Yes. We can connect it to our NSI Gold alarm receiving centre, so a trigger is acted on even when you are away. Monitoring and maintenance.
