Standard residential systems keep 14 to 30 days of footage on a hard drive that overwrites the oldest recordings. Business systems are usually set to 30 days, which suits most businesses' needs under UK GDPR. We can fit larger drives if you need longer retention.
Do I need planning permission?
Almost never for a domestic system. Listed buildings, some conservation areas and businesses near boundaries occasionally need a chat with the council, and we can advise on that.
What about Wi-Fi or wireless cameras?
We can install wireless cameras where wired is impractical, but for permanent home and business CCTV we recommend wired. The footage is more reliable, the image quality is better, and there's nothing to flatten a battery on a cold January morning.
